Turtle in Paradise
7/13/12 ** Lovely historical fiction - set in Key West during the Great Depression. Literary - not my typical genre. Makes one think about the risks of cons, the importance of family, and the pleasure of not needing to worry about the roof over my head or where my next meal will come from.Turtle, the main character, has earned that nickname because she has a tough shell. But, as one of the other characters observed, turtles can have a soft spot on the inside.
They Young Hoosier program is accomplishing one of its goals - helping teachers (me) and kids (my students) read things they might not have read otherwise.
