Amelia Bedelia's First Day of School
9/5/2014 ** I knew, of course, about the literal-minded maid who made such hysterically funny mistakes. I'd seen newer versions of the books with a different illustration style. I didn't realize that the character had changed - from an adult maid to a young girl. I find her mis-interpretations to be more plausible in her new iteration!
I can't wait to get more copies of these books to share with my language learners. I love seeing the huge smile as they suddenly realize why the other kids in the room are laughing at Amelia's comments.
