1/15/13 ** FABULOUS! If you're already a reader of Tamora Pierce, Kristin Cashore, or Rae Carson, you should definitely read Seraphina
. If you're a fan of this book already, and haven't read these aforementioned authors, check them out.
Hartman skillfully explores a number of themes. Seraphina has a secret and the reader delves into that secret while accompanying her on a quest to uncover a mystery of political intrigue and murder. Seraphina's world can be seen as an allegory of our own, where difference is mistrusted and leads to conflict. Hartman also explores the concept of courage - which isn't recognized in the absence of fear.
I truly hope there are other books in this world.
