2/4/14 ** Bascomb has succeeded in his quest to research and write about real events and people in a spy/thriller format. This book was gripping - the descriptions, pacing, and choice of events & people were masterful. The narrative structure of this tale of the search, capture, and trial of Adolf Eichmann, mastermind behind the organization of "the final Solution" of NAZI Germany, kept me turning pages to the very end.
After meeting a Holocaust/Auschwitz survivor last weekend, I was more intrigued than I might otherwise have been to read about Eichmann. When I saw this book on YALSA's list of Excellence in Non-Fiction and the ALSC Notable Books for Children, I was even more interested.
