9/27/13 ** I picked this book because the author is in competition with my husband for the Emerging Author's Award from the Indianapolis Public Library and the Marily & Eugene Glick Foundation.
I thoroughly enjoyed the police procedures and the strong female chief of police. In just a few places, I felt like the description of the desert landscape along the Texas/Mexico border. However, in most places, the description helped me feel the loneliness and desolation of the wild, rural area. I also enjoyed the look at the way the Mexican drug wars could (or do) impact small U.S. towns.
