9/23/12 ** Re-read
11/22/2010 I'm not sure how Lee Child does it, but he manages to turn out a tight, suspenseful novel time after time after time. My husband and I finished this book nearly concurrently and had to go back and re-read the last chapter several times to see if Jack had lived or not. We resorted to drawing diagrams of the ventilation shafts to figure out if Jack had been burned alive. This book definitely prompted us to rush out to buy the next in the series so that we could find out if & how Jack survived.
I was particularly interested to hear an interview on the BBC show 'The Strand' with Lee Child. The catch-phrase I came away with was, "Write the fast parts slow and the slow parts fast."
